Essay Writing Tips For Nursing StudentsWriting a nursing college application essay is a challenge and an opportunity for students. The most recent news stories are about students who excel in their nursing careers due to their ability to write essay-ready essays. It is also very helpful to consider writing the application essay part of your resume. Essay writing must be fresh and original; it should speak to you without assuming.When I read the initial report, I found it to be misleading and had a difficult time with the final analysis. For the most part, the report was inaccurate and false. Additionally, the main point that I took issue with was that no one was actually demanding or requiring all applicants to complete college essay samples prior to being admitted to nursing schools. That is simply not true. You need to be able to state this, but unfortunately the report never did.There was no requirement from the admissions committee to write the essays, unless it is something that is mandatory for your program. An application essay is an opportunity for you to write on behalf of yourself and your potential employers and be as honest as possible with what you have to say. It should not include any 'spin' or any other words that make you seem as if you are trying to convince them of something that you are not.In a special case, I do require some type of sample, but not one that is required by most schools. My nursing school requires us to write a five paragraph essay on what attracted us to this profession. This is not required in every institution, but for those that do expect to have to use some sort of sample at some point. That is my advice, in case you are new to nursing or were already admitted to nursing school.If you are in high school, then it will probably not be necessary for you to write an application essay. Colleges usuallyconsider application essays to be extra credit. However, they should always check your work and make sure that it is sincere and unique. Please realize that colleges are looking for a lot more than just a great story that sounds like it was made up on the spot.If you are enrolled in a specialized or accelerated program that uses a word processing software to write the documents, then it is best to find a program that you can afford and that you like. While there are many free programs available, I have found that a student can easily get overwhelmed when trying to go back and forth between the word processing program and a computer to complete the paperwork.If you are an admitted student at a school that you are currently attending, then your college application essay is an opportunity for you to show your strength and why they should choose you over any other applicant. Remember that it is your chance to prove that you are a great fit for the nursing program you are applying to, and to provide evidence of your commitment to excellence.Be sure to use the essay samples as a resource. Take full advantage of the fact that you can get many different samples for your school of choice, and also research other schools that have similar programs.
